Get Personal with SEO

As search engines such as Google get more sophisticated at delivering relevant results to users, content is becoming more personalized. Consequently, content that builds ample ‘me’ relevancy into its message is bound to score more points with users. Here are three simple guidelines that utilize the personal touch to connect with users.

Relevancy. Content needs to go well beyond obvious sales messages that used to be the staple of marketing. These likely will get dumped straight into your target’s spam folder. The key here is to create a theme for your brand, then go all out to own the keyword that applies to that theme. Naturally, web pages should be geared to supporting your chosen theme.

Freshness. One of Google’s primary aims is to supply fresh content to users. So why not help the world’s mightiest search engine do its job, and help your marketing efforts in the process? Freshen up the content on your site as often as humanly possible. Remember, the quicker your content is updated, the more Google will crawl to it for indexing purposes.

Sociability. Getting social actually touches on both freshness and relevancy. Content that reflects both of these attributes tends to strike a chord with users, who share the messaging with friends. These friends, in turn, may well pass the content along to their chums, thus creating a viral phenomenon. Clearly, you’ll want to make sure you have like/share functionality across your site. If not, you may be generating fantastic word of mouth, but it won’t be going anywhere.
