Shorten Delivery Times Even if You Can’t Ship at Santa Speed

Let’s face it. When it comes to fast shipping, it’s tough to top the big guy in the bright red suit. But then, he has plenty of skilled help and no supply chain issues. So how do you compete with S. Claus if you’re an e-commerce merchant? … You do everything possible to reduce delivery times. Let’s face it. In the world of e-commerce marketing, getting it there yesterday isn’t fast enough.

Doubting the importance of fast deliveries? Convinced that one or two days makes little difference to customers? Well, consider this: Approximately 63% of online shoppers expect deliveries to be fast...real fast. When shipping falls short in this department, guess what customers do. That’s right. They shop elsewhere. Which pretty much leaves slow shippers out in the cold.

Think customers won’t recognize you as an infamous slow shipper? Wrong. They’re ten steps ahead of you. During brand searches, many if not most shoppers use filtering mechanisms to narrow down the field to fast shippers. Slow shippers won’t even be visible in the search results. Not the best way to increase sales.

Now perhaps you’re an e-commerce retailer who sees a distinct advantage in not reducing the pool of potential customers. You, therefore, are ready to boost shipping speeds. And how is this done?  By taking advantage of the various fast shipping programs available to e-retailers. Among the possibilities are the following:

Walmart Free 2-Day – Sellers utilizing this program are announced to the world with a green fast shipping tag. As a bonus, they also gain excellent search placement.

Amazon Prime – Instead of a green tag, sellers here are distinguished by an eye-catching blue badge  -- unmistakable indicator of peppy deliveries.

Shopify 2-Day Delivery – Along with speedy shipping, e-commerce participants will gain use of the platform’s fulfillment centers. They’ll also be entitled to utilize specific Shopify technology designed to forecast demand levels.

While participating in these or similar programs won’t guarantee surging sales, your involvement  certainly improves the odds of gaining more customers and moving more merchandise. Whatever you do, don’t settle for slow shipping. After all, you’re competing with the North Pole’s finest.
