Get Your Brand Spotted by Media Radar

Get Your Brand Spotted by Media Radar

Whether you want your brand noticed by traditional or digital media, it’s easy to get lost in the Forbidden Forest of competing brands all vying for public attention. Somehow, some way, your business must grab the attention and the affections of the journalists and writers who select content for their respective media channels. Screaming, shouting, jumping up and down, or standing on your head won’t help. What will do the trick, however, are these proven methods for getting brands spotted by media radar.

  • Target the media channels that hold sway of your industry. Breakthrough athletic gear probably will go over much better in a destination such as Sports Illustrated than it will in Better Homes and Garden.
  • Jump right in by commenting on published content, thereby gaining the notice of the contributing journalist. Repeat often. Such dogged persistence eventually will make you a known quantity in the eyes of the journalist. Sooner or later, the writer will feel he or she knows you. When the right story or article comes along, you, the budding friend, likely will get a call. When you do, the odds of your brand getting mentioned in the piece soar dramatically.
  • Build your reservoir of media channels by periodically targeting new publications. Aim to supplement your collection with a new one at least four times yearly.
