Every year, I renew my auto registration. I put a bright colored sticker on my license plate that shows the expiration month. If I use the vehicle and don’t register it, I could be pulled over and ticketed. If I continue to ignore the law, I will face having my car impounded.

No Gun Zone Here is what annual gun registration would do:

  1. Raise billions which would be used to enforce guns laws already in place.
  2. Fund a robust database of guns and gun owner qualifications.
  3. Facilitate swift removal of gun ownership rights for those who no longer qualify to own a gun under current laws.
  4. Enable authorities to confiscate unregistered guns without a warrant.
  5. Reduce the threat of gun violence in those communities that adopt annual registration.

I realize this is a hot-potato topic. I have discussed this issue with a number of hardcore “right to bear arms” advocates, and most of them agree that the gun violence problem is all about the owners and not the guns themselves.
