Bart Young, CEO & Creative Director
As a professional marketer and strategist, Bart has guided a number of significant clients in attaining category leadership with award-winning advertising and public relations. Through his guidance and leadership Young Company is recognized as one of the top 25 business-to-business agencies in the U.S.
As the agency’s executive creative director, Bart has led his staff in winning over 100 awards of excellence in advertising, public relations and Internet marketing. Major clients have included a number of Fortune 500 brands, including ARAMARK, Fluor Corporation, HP, Hughes, IBM, Northrop Grumman, TDK and Texas Instruments, as well as a number of major software, semiconductor and Internet companies.
Bart’s career in advertising began at age seven, when he spent the summer stuffing envelopes for a direct mail campaign at his father’s company, Speer, Young & Hollander. In 1983, Bart took over as President of SYH and built it into one of Southern California’s leading independent agencies. Earlier in his career, Bart was Director of Marketing for InfoSci, a Palo Alto-based high-technology consulting firm. During college he interned at J. Walter Thompson Advertising in San Francisco.
Bart holds both BS and MBA degrees in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley where he studied with global brand equity expert David Aaker. He has been an Associate Professor at California State University, Los Angeles.

Lori Robinson, Media Manager
As media planner and buyer, Lori handles broadcast, print and online media for a variety of clients. As a negotiator, she is very effective in obtaining the best rates and value-added merchandising for our clients. She has extensive experience in the fields of automotive, construction, education, environmental, finance, healthcare, manufacturing and retail markets. A strong work ethic, flexibility and quest for learning allows her to stay abreast of the latest trends in media. In addition she brings with her over 20 years of experience in accounting, administration and human resources. As a local Laguna Beach resident, Lori enjoys the beach and the nature of the canyon. Her other hobbies include reading, collecting history, archeology and esoteric books, and watching old classic and silent films.
Rich Kozak, Brand Architect & Strategist
Rich brings to Young Company over 40 years of sales and marketing experience across a variety of industries in manufacturing, technology, distribution and business and personal services. His Fortune 500 client-side experience developed his intuition in field sales, distribution services, and product management. His agency experience sharpened his ability to guide integrated marketing communications. Rich is a certified global branding consultant deeply experienced in brand definition and brand positioning and a powerful trainer on the process of defining and establishing brands to accelerate impact and growth. A graduate of Penn State, Rich has been known to prepare his share of epicurean delights and plays a mean violin.
Janet Roberts, Public Relations Manager
Janet has over 25 years of experience, shared between the areas of marketing communications and software engineering. Her combined talents complement each other extremely well and have enabled her to be very effective in marketing both high-tech and consumer products and services.
Janet’s experience includes working with companies such as Information Systems Laboratories, Quintron Systems, WebConcepts, International Rectifier, FileNet, ITT Industries, and more. She has also assisted other companies such as Cimnet Systems, Eidogen, Etreby, Web4 and Chicago Interface Group with their strategic marketing analysis, advertising, and technical literature.
Earlier in her career, Janet held the position as Manager of Marketing Communications at MicroSim Corporation, a software company in the Electronic Design Automation industry. She was responsible for strategic marketing planning, product and company positioning, public relations, and the development and implementation of all marketing communication activities.
Janet earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Quantitative Business Analysis from the University of Southern California (Los Angeles, California). She has also pursued subsequent graduate studies in marketing communications and software engineering.
Lena Frenzel, Digital Marketing Manager
Lena was born and raised in Germany, is fluent in both German and English, and can also speak French at the professional working proficiency. In Germany, Lena attended Technical University Freiberg and received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration: Marketing & Management. She then attended California State University, Fullerton and received her Master’s in Mass Communications: Research and Theory. With over five years of professional working experience for Facebook, Google, YouTube, Machine Zone, and Nike, Lena is a proactive self-starter and has outstanding problem-solving skills.
Robyn DeTorres, Digital Marketing Strategist
Ranked by LinkedIn as one of the top ten digital marketing strategists in the U.S. Robyn first learned about the power of SEO in 2003 in one of her web design classes at Santa Monica College. This was years before Google offered analytics and all the data was tabulated by hand. She quickly realized the importance of finding a website through natural search, and found that she had an instinct for strategic optimization of websites. It was then that she decided to focus her career on digital marketing. After spending more than ten years in this ever-evolving field, Robyn is one of the elite few who speak in terms of bots, algorithms, CPC and conversions, and knows the right tools to push websites out of the doldrums and up to the head of their category. With a penchant for design, Robyn loves black and white photography and creating works of art in stained glass.
Roger DeTorres, Paid Search Manager
It is with deepest regrets that we report that Roger lost his life in a motorcycle accident on June 6. He is survived by his loving wife Robyn and two children Rowan (age 14) and Rayne (age 3). There will be a celebration of life on June 16. Please contact Young Company for details.
From a young age Roger has had a keen interest in advertising commercials. Even now, he can recall and recognize just about any slogan, jingle or company logo. His drive for creating attractive ad headlines and slogans is very useful as YC's Paid Search Manager where he is constantly conducting AB tests to optimize ad performance. Google certified, Roger is entrusted with the supervision of all Online Search, Display, and Remarketing ads. Prior to his career in digital marketing, Roger spent the good part of a decade bartending and managing restaurants, where he honed his selling techniques and learned how to manage employees effectively in a high-stress environment, both useful traits in marketing. When not preparing epicurean delights, Roger works out and enjoys motorcycling.
Andrew Barnes, Lead Web Developer
Andrew’s 20 years of experience in several dozen programs enables him to not only create state-of-the-art websites, but update older websites as well. Andrew has served in the U.S. Army for seven years as a combat medic. This included a nine-month tour in Afghanistan. In other words, he is the kind of person you would trust your life to, not just your website. Never one to rest on his laurels, Andrew has gone back to school and will soon complete his Master of Fine Arts in the Art of Game Design at LCAD (Laguna College of Art & Design). So, if you’re thinking about using 3D VR in your next project, you know who to call.
Evan Garcia, Account Coordinator
Evan brings new talent and energy to the Young Company team. As a Loyola University Chicago graduate who majored in Advertising and Public Relations, she has excellent writing and research skills. An expert in Cision and fluent in many of the digital marketing programs, she is a big asset in the areas of PR, social media, website design and digital marketing. Evan has exemplary organizational skills and thrives in team settings. Clients appreciate her gentle nudges to keep their projects on time and budget. Her passion is learning new tools, so she is a perfect fit for Young Company. When Evan’s not at the office, you can find her absorbed in a book at the beach or at the movies.
Miguel Barrios, Graphic Designer
With a keen eye and strong sense of design, Miguel was born in Peru as the oldest of three children. He has been drawing since before he could write. His family migrated to California when he was six. Art quickly became his sanctuary from a world of a different language. He expanded his knowledge of artistic media from drawing to learning the intricacies of computer design. Miguel attended and earned his AA at Platt College and has since done work for Marketing, Real Estate, Medical, Legal and Apparel companies. He is highly skilled in all digital and print media where he produces compelling ads, brochures, emails, banners, corporate branding, PowerPoint presentations, video editing and much more!
Jenn Fabian, Marketing Associate
Adding Jenn’s creative pen to our marketing campaigns is like finding that one elusive ingredient that absolutely makes the dish. As her past experience in national and international marketing attest, she is the master of finesse. Her writing and communications experience began in Brussels, Belgium, where she provided copy and overall coordination for fully integrated marketing campaigns. Jenn focuses on incorporating strategic tactics with her own patented style of creativity. Outside the office she stays busy attending concerts and searching for the next foodie find.
Sarah Powell, Marketing Associate
Sarah learned about innovative marketing strategies from the biggest and brightest minds of Silicon Valley, and she has now put her extraordinary skills to work for our clients. Her experience in the Bay Area, as well as in Dublin, Ireland, brought her in contact with a variety of industries, including food service, technology, manufacturing and internet start-ups. Sarah enjoys traveling, cooking and music concerts.
