Marketing’s Magic Box

Blog Images310

It’s just a little box, so compact it can fit on a mobile screen. But it contains the works – video, graphics, sound clips, and text.  Everything your brand needs to make a big impression – all at once.

This magic marketing box goes by the name of card. And said card could be pulling in the lion’s share of digital ad spend this year.

Not surprisingly, the concentrated marketing blitz provided by cards aligns perfectly with the soaring popularity of mobile. Adaptable to any size screen, from mobile to desktop, cards feed our ravenous appetites for fast info.

But it’s not just concentrated info that makes a card the fastest box in the west. Also a factor is its load speed, which is supersonic. And that’s huge in a world where saving a few milliseconds can mean the difference between sticking around for important content and giving your brand the hasta la vista, baby!

Interestingly, cards gain their tremendous speed by what they don’t need. Cards don’t require links, nor do they need to load an entire web page.

Not surprisingly, a slew of major players are getting into the card act. Google uses knowledge panels that are essentially cards. And Google Now revolves around cards. YouTube is replacing video annotations with in-video cards. Pinterest, Tumblr, Instagram, and scores of other social destinations are using cards in a big way. Clearly, the future of marketing is in the cards.
