Can Your Brand Pass the Holiday Trend Test?

Several major marketing trends are playing a key role in the 2014 holiday season. Do you know how many of them your brand is plugged into? The following trend list culled from an Experian Marketing Services survey will reveal how well you’re doing.

When it comes to running marketing campaigns on the social sites, Facebook will grab the lion’s share of the profit. In the big picture, just under 50% of global marketers who take the plunge into social media promotions will utilize organic Facebook posts, while 34% will choose to go the paid ad route. Marketers have ample reason to point their campaigns at Facebook, last year’s holiday season alone saw 39% increase in traffic to retail sites.

Globally, 25% of marketers will offer free shipping during the 2014 holiday season, North America however, prefers show a greater zest for free shipping, with about 38% of the marketers offering this holiday perk.

North America also differs from the global marketplace when it comes to choice of incentives; e-coupons will be the promotional incentive of choice for 40% of marketers here. 31% of the world market, however, will treat customers to a ‘deal of the day’ (whatever that happens to be.)

The major hurdle facing marketers this holiday season will be pinpointing the most promising customers, roughly 20% of advertisers claim they still cannot zero in on their crème de la crème. 48% of marketers polled in the Experian survey insist that a single channel is the only means to uncover these select buyers. It is also becoming clear that integrated campaigns aren’t the answer we have been looking for after all; things simply get too muddy once a multi-channel marketing strategy is launched.
